Laerskool Generaal De La Rey Primary School pleased to welcome their new Grade 1 faces

Principal Rochelle Hank proud to welcome the new little ones

Either wide or teary, the eyes of the little ones tell no lies.

With nerves and smiles, Laerskool Generaal De La Rey Primary School welcomed their new grade ones with open arms on Wednesday, January 12. While some may have the experience of years in preparation grades, the step up to Grade 1 is a daunting moment. Parents hugged their children and handed them over to those who would care for them for what would hopefully be seven happy years.

A total of 120 new grade ones were present; three classes of 40 each. As a dual-medium school, Dellies has two English classes and one Afrikaans class, and day one would essentially be an orientation day where children learn their surroundings. Enjoying the fresh smell of newly unwrapped stationery, learners were taken through the basics under the caring guidance of their new teachers.

Happy with the smooth running of the opening day, Principal Rochelle Hank said, “The staff and SGB love to welcome our Grade 1 learners. We know that they will have an excellent learning experience with the Dellies family.”
