New sponsor announced for Poorte

Roodepoort Rugby Club has announced a new sponsor and will continue in the upcoming season as Eco Rubber-Roodepoort Rugby Club.

Neil van Zyl and his team were announced as the club’s main sponsor on Wednesday, January 12. The sponsorship is for a period of 12 months.

“We as Roodepoort Rugby Club are very excited to have Eco Rubber on board, and with our new coach appointed it really is setting the tone for the vision and goals we have set for ourselves as a club.

“We plan to be on top of the Gauteng Lions Rugby Union League (GLRUL) by end of 2023, and Gold Cup trophy contenders by 2024,” said Club chairman Theuns Naude.

On Tuesday, January 12 the club had their first practice of 2022 with quite a few new names, including the former Pukke flank Boeta Piater.

The club confirmed to the Northsider that a many other big names will be rolled out over the next few weeks.

New coach Neil Kalify seemed to be happy and excited about the numbers and the spirit that were present amongst his forces.

Experienced centre Brendon Roberts and loose switch Ethan Anderson were also present while Piater worked with the assistant coach Wesley Pretorius.

“We look forward to having as a sponsor a national company that has also recently sponsored the Eastern Province (EP) primary schools Craven Week sides, among other.

“Thank you for the sponsorship, and we look forward to wearing your name with pride as we run onto the field for our city,” said Theuns.
