Oakhill Academy celebrates love and friendship

It was a morning of chaotic fun at Little Bean and Oakhill Academy on February 11 as the school celebrated Valentine’s Day and Friendship Day with a cake sale. Learners not only played to their hearts’ content (fuelled by the sugar) but also raised funds.

“This is our friendship bake sale and we get the children to come and raise funds towards new reading books for the school and new equipment. The kids will be coming out in turns to buy cupcakes and snacks, and then they can just play outside and be together,” said Kirsten Solan, who is an educator at the school.

Some of the older learners also shared what Valentine’s Day is all about. “It’s about the people you love and celebrating love with someone special to show them how much you love them. It’s very special to your loved ones,” said Limise Jantjies, Tamsyn Govender and Khumo Duiker.
