The children at Weltevreden Park Primary School were asked to create beautiful pieces of art to represent what they think Youth Day is all about. Weltevreden Square gave the kids the opportunity to create the art for their competition and have it displayed at the square on Saturday, July 30.

If that wasn’t exciting enough, the tenants at the Weltevreden Square teamed up and sponsored prizes for the winning grade. Each child received a goodie bag with something from each business inside.

“Choosing one winner was a very difficult choice to make. We loved each and every piece of art, but decided to go with the piece that took the most effort, time and creativity to put together. The winners are the Grade 3 kids,” explained Caitlin de Jong from Weltevreden Square.
Everyone came together on Monday, August 1 to announce the winners and hand over the prizes. The children had just finished their break and gathered in the courtyard to meet the group.

“We believe this was a fun and creative way to get the community and schools together, ” said Caitlin.
