The public is asked to avoid Hendrik Potgieter Road when approaching the Peter and Doreen Roads intersection in Ruimsig.
A small truck has crashed through the intersection after coming down Doreen Road. Witnesses believe the truck’s brakes failed resulting in the vehicle crashing through several parked minibus taxis and its passengers.
At least four people are believed to have died and paramedics are currently treating multiple other injured commuters.
Traffic is moving along Hendrik Potgieter and Doreen Roads but the Peter Road side is currently closed.
