Sheriyana Govender has been a budding mathematician ever since her parents can remember. After joining A Plus Students Maths Academy at three years old, she has competed in several mathematics competitions.
Last year, she was placed first in Pan Pacific Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association’s (PAMA) Regional Competition and third in PAMA Nationals.
In addition, she is on the Gauteng PAMA Team and has obtained her 2022 Gauteng Colours in Mental Mathematics.
“Sheriyana is an inspiration to her peers and exudes pride when talking about her achievements. She was very excited to get the opportunity for a photo, holding her trophy and certificate. She couldn’t wait to show us the beautiful trophy that she proudly displays at home and her friends were equally excited to see it!”
