Theo Steyn, the School Governing Body chairperson for the school, explained they noticed bullying among their foundation phase children. Therefore they have decided to put fencing up around the grades 1–3 area to protect the children.

“The children get robbed in broad daylight,” said Steyn.

He continued their hope is when the children are older and start mixing with the other grades they have learned more discipline and this will not be a problem.

The first manner in which they hoped to collect the necessary funds was by holding a raffle where the prize was a weekend in Buffelspoort.

Steyn mentioned the raffle did however not do as well as they had hoped and they are still in need of funding for the endeavour. They would also like to ask for any person who can donate material or their time to assist.

Geraldine Swartz and Rhoda Lackay sort the tickets.

Reggie Philander from Radio2000 attended to do the honours of drawing the lucky raffle.
