Just in Time baby sanctuary to relocate to Little Falls

The organisation needs a new baby saving box and you can help.

After years of providing a safe haven for abandoned babies and children in need of care and protection, Just In Time Baby Sanctuary is relocating from Discovery to Little Falls.

According to the founder of the organisation, Georgina Caetano, the move is driven by the need for more space and it will enable the sanctuary to assist more vulnerable children.

“This year alone, I’ve received nine phone calls from community members seeking space for children, but unfortunately, I had to turn them down due to lack of space. The new premises will allow us to make a greater impact.

“We are hoping to move by March 26 and we very grateful for the community’s continued love and support,” said Georgina.

Just In Time Baby Sanctuary is a registered non-profit organisation and also a member of Baby Savers South Africa. They rely solely on public donations and they are the only organisation with a baby saver device in Roodepoort which provides a safe and anonymous way for mothers in distress to relinquish their newborns.

However, the relocation poses a challenge for the baby saver device. According to Georgina, the new premises do not have a suitable built-in space where devices can be installed, which has been a lifesaver for many babies.

To address this, the sanctuary is seeking assistance to set up a free-standing, solar-powered baby saver unit.

“We want the baby saver to operate as soon as possible after we have moved and we urge individuals or businesses in the container and solar industries to come forward and help us establish this vital resource,” said Georgina.

“Baby savers save lives, and we want to ensure that our device continues to provide a safe haven for mothers and babies in need.”
