From dusty streets to golden screens
Matholesville born actor, Tshepiso Jeme, star in Mzansi Magic's new telenovela.
From the dusty streets of Matholesville to the big screens of South Africa, actor Tshepiso Jeme is making waves in the entertainment industry with his latest role as Likamva Mabandla in Mzansi Magic’s new telenovela, Inimba, set to premiere on Monday, April 14.
Inimba explores the dimensions of a mother’s love and sacrifice, and Tshepiso’s character is described as self-assured, respectful, charming, and willing to take risks.
“I’m excited to bring this character to life and explore the complexities of his personality,” he said.
Growing up in Matholesville, Tshepiso’s childhood environment could have easily defined his future, but he refused to let it. Instead, he excelled, becoming living proof that anything is possible with hard work and determination, and today his journey to success is a testament to his perseverance and passion for the arts.

“Mathole is known for crime and drugs, and as a guy, I could have easily fallen into that, but I remained a beacon of hope and aspired to a better life for myself.”
Tshepiso’s rise to fame began after completing matric at Westridge High School, when his then pastor encouraged him to pursue a degree in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Witwatersrand. “I was a bookworm and didn’t know much about acting, but my pastor saw something in me that I didn’t. He applied for me to enroll in a few courses, including a Bachelor’s Degree in Dramatic Arts, and I ended up pursuing acting,” he reflects.
During his first year at university, he landed his first role, a moment he describes as surreal.
“Coming from a place where success seemed out of reach, getting my first role was a dream come true,” he says.
Since then, he has appeared in several South African movies and films, including Indlalifa, Ithemba, Umzabalazo Ka Mqanda, Kleva-ish, and Scandal.
As Tshepiso prepares for the premiere of Inimba, he remains humble and grateful for the opportunities he’s had. His story serves as inspiration to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, proof that with talent, hard work, and determination, anything is possible.
“I believe in education, and I always kept it in the back of my mind that education is a key to success. Therefore, I would love other young people to value education and knowledge and go into careers that their hearts beat for,” he concludes.
