Police are investigating the murder of a 50-year-old man in Roodepoort West after he was fatally shot on May 7.
According to the police’s Johannesburg District communication co-ordinator, Lt Colonel Mpho Tshethlane, the incident occurred at about 22:00.
She adds that the man was driving near the corner of Hinda and Serfontein Street when an unidentified sedan overtook him and blocked his way, forcing him to a stop.
A Quantum minibus also drove up, and its occupants fired multiple shots into the victim’s vehicle.
The man sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.
“The motive behind the incident is not yet known,” says Tshethlane. “No one has been arrested yet, but police investigations are ongoing,” she confirms.
The police have appealed to community members with any information regarding the incident or any details that might assist with the investigation to come forward.
