Children’s foundation raises awareness for Child Protection Week
The event brought together different stakeholders to champion children's rights and protection.
In observance of Child Protection Week, the Tshepang Foundation hosted an educational event aimed at raising awareness about the rights and protection of orphaned and vulnerable children.

The event, held on Thursday, June 5, brought together multiple stakeholders, including the Department of Social Development, NG Welfare, representatives from clinics and learners with their teachers from early childhood development (ECD) centres in the area.

These stakeholders shared their knowledge and resources to support child protection and help children who have been abused or neglected. They reminded the community about the various ways to support children, including providing education, food, clothing, and protecting them from harm.

The event also featured performances by the centres and Tshepang staff, which added a lively touch to the discussions.
Susan Rammekwa, director of the foundation, said the aim was to raise child protection awareness in the Princess community and also to introduce a forum that was recently formed by ECD centres around the informal settlement called Each One Teach One.
“Together with this forum, we were focusing on the safety of a child as well as to reinforce our constitution protecting the rights of a child,” she said.
Tshepang has, over the years, been a beacon of hope for vulnerable and orphaned children, and they also offer care and support in the form of homework supervision, provision of daily meals, life skills groups and recreational activities.
