Radiokop blooms as community garden competition winners announced

The RRA believes this competition will inspire even greater participation in the years ahead, as Radiokop continues to grow greener.

The community of Radiokop once again proved that pride and collaboration can transform shared spaces, as the Radiokop Residents Association (RRA) announced the winners of its annual Garden and Verge Competition.

RRA chairperson Chalice Moodley described the competition as especially competitive, as it attracted a high number of entrants who are showcasing a consistently high standard across homes, residential complexes, schools, churches, and business properties.

“Residents and local stakeholders embraced the initiative with enthusiasm, contributing to a suburb that is increasingly neat, green, and welcoming,” Chalice said.

“The level of participation was truly encouraging. It was wonderful to see so many residents taking ownership of their spaces and working together to beautify our area,” she added.

The RRA presented the Best Complex award to Karizelle, represented by Nadine Craig, and praised it for its impressive day-and-night transformation. Mayers Estate, represented by Neeta Chen, was also recognised for its consistently high standard and ongoing commitment to excellence.

The Best House title was awarded to Leanne Cardoso, while Lebo Moremi was named runner-up after a strong and commendable showing.

The Most Improved award went to Shauna and Janette Stanger after the RRA acknowledged their remarkable progress and visible transformation over the course of the competition.

Several entries received special recognition for the scale and impact of their efforts. BP Radiokop was commended for its beautifully transformed verge following recent area upgrades, with praise for the efforts of Manz Gosai. Natural Dynamic School, represented by Yvette Offenberg, and Ridgecrest Family Church, represented by Ezra Karuppan, were applauded for the phenomenal work undertaken across their large properties, setting an exceptional standard for community spaces.

King Edward Verge was commended for its true community-driven initiative, showcasing what residents can achieve when working together. In addition, several homes in Luit Street were highlighted for their stunning and well-maintained verges.

Chalice extended thanks to the competition’s judge, Manny de Freitas, acknowledging his expertise, guidance, and good humour throughout the judging process.

“This competition is about far more than gardens. It’s about pride, connection, and building a community where people care for one another and the environment we share,” she concluded.
