Car enthusiasts come together to bring Easter joy

The 405 Old School Race crew hosted an Easter run, handing out Easter treats to children.

In the spirit of Easter and giving back, the 405 Old School Race crew brought smiles and excitement to children across several communities during their annual Easter drive on April 5.

The convoy, made up of classic and modified cars, joined forces with a motorcycle group before heading to Fietas, where they stopped at Rescue 911, also known as Die Oord.

From there, the crew continued along their route into the heart of Westbury and later to Claremont Flats. Along the way, they distributed Easter packets filled with sweets, creating moments of joy for hundreds of children.

At the heart of the initiative is a strong sense of community care. With many families facing difficult circumstances and high levels of unemployment, the group said it is more important than ever to give back in meaningful ways.

“At the heart of what we do is a commitment to our community. We provide children in our area with a little bit of happiness and relief. Seeing them smile is a powerful reminder that while we cannot solve every problem, we can certainly make a difference in their lives today,” said group leader William Heiden.

“This is our fourth year hosting the event. There were fewer of us this year, so we could not reach as many areas as we would have liked, but the impact was still felt,” William added.

The event also aimed to challenge perceptions about street racing groups. Members emphasised that their passion for cars does not define them negatively.

“We want to remind the community that just because we are involved in street racing does not mean we are bad or only here to make noise. We have families, and we empathise with those who are struggling. This is our way of giving back.”

The day was filled with laughter, excitement and a strong sense of unity, as the roar of engines gave way to cheers and gratitude. For the 405 Old School Race crew, the event was not just about cars, but about compassion and connection – proving that even small acts of kindness can leave a lasting impact.
