New battery store opens on Ontdekkers Road

Sabat Xpress batteries bring car battery solutions to the Roodepoort community.

Sabat Xpress Batteries, a prominent car battery specialist chain in South Africa, has opened a new store on 6 Ontdekkers Road, bringing battery solutions to the Roodepoort community at their convenience.

The grand opening of the store took place on March 6 and was attended by several stakeholders, including the CEO of AutoX, Glenn Geldenhuis.

According to Corne Strydom, the sales and marketing executive at Auto X, the company has its own manufacturing plant in Gqeberha and 76 Xpress Battery stores throughout South Africa, with 34 located in Gauteng.

“We are thrilled about this new opening, as it’s our first Xpress Battery store in the Roodepoort area,” said Corne. “When we saw the new development, we seized the opportunity to establish a presence here, as it’s crucial for us to have a footprint in all areas and cater to our customers’ needs.

“We look forward to welcoming the Roodepoort community and providing top-notch service to their vehicles,” he added.

Products and services

The store offers leading battery brands in the automotive space, such as Willard and Sabat, plus other brands like Varta and GP. They also have batteries for gate motors, alarms, and back-up power products. According to Corne, correct fitment is key, and their knowledgeable staff is available to help customers select and fit the correct battery for their vehicles.

“We also encourage motorists to visit the store for a free battery and alternator test,” he said.

Mobile services

Mobile services are also available for stranded motorists, operating from 06:00 to 22:00 seven days a week. Community members can visit the company’s website for information or call their Battery on Call Support Centre on 0860 12 00 12.

Corne said during this time, their fitment specialist would then be sent for mobile assistance.

Operating hours

The store is open Monday to Saturday between 08:00 and 17:00. On Sundays, mobile services are available.
