Fetus found in Witpoortjie stormwater drain

On Sunday, May 7, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) responded to a complaint at Trezona Avenue and Ham Street, upon arrival officers found a fetus in a stormwater drain.

ER24 Paramedics were called to the scene and declared the child as deceased, explained Xolani Fihla Communications officer for JMPD. The identity of the child is unknown.

Roodepoort police was also called to the scene.

“A case of concealment of birth will be opened at Roodepoort police for further investigation,” Fihla concluded.
