Bodies of two Honeydew police officers found near Roodepoort mine
Resources mobilised to find those responsible for the killing of two police detectives.

Two on-duty police detectives from the Honeydew Police Station were found shot and killed.
According to Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, National Police spokesperson, a Constable, and a Sergeant were found only metres away from a state vehicle near an open mine shaft.

“Gauteng police have mobilised resources to apprehend those responsible for this crime,” said Mathe.

She added, “The National Commissioner of Police, General Fannie Masemola is calling on community members to take a stand against police killings, he said the killing of men and women in blue cannot continue. In the past week, the police have sadly lost five police officers in the line of duty. Two in the Eastern Cape and three in Gauteng Province.”
