Suspect arrested in possession of stolen vehicle

A 57-year-old man was arrested by JMPD’s Tactical Response Unit for being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle in Radiokop, on January 8.

JMPD received information from Vumacam about a stolen white Opel Kadett which was sought as per the case by Roodepoort police. The officers who were notified of the matter proceeded to the given location situated at the corner of Christiaan de Wet and Erasmus Road at a popular restaurant’s parking area, where they noticed a man walking towards the vehicle.

As he entered the motor vehicle he was stopped by the officers before he could drive off. The officers explained to him why he was stopped; he was arrested and detained by Roodepoort police.
