Two shot outside Ontdekkers Road hotel
A man opened fire on patrons outside the Delarey Hotel on Ontdekkers Road.
Two men were seriously injured in a shooting at the Delarey Hotel on Ontdekkers Road this afternoon, February 5.
According to bystanders, a man approached the busy hotel on foot, and opened fire on patrons loitering outside.
According to Help24 Secure operations director Quentin Swart, who was at the scene shortly after the incident, both victims were seriously injured, one sustaining five gunshot wounds to the chest, arm and buttocks, and the other being shot once in the upper thigh.

The victims were transported to hospital by ambulance.
Swart adds that the alleged shooter was apprehended by police at the scene and was whisked away quickly as enraged hotel patrons threatened to attack the police van to get to the suspect.
At the Roodepoort Record’s arrival, police officers had their hands full keeping bystanders and passers-by away from the crime scene as they ignored the cordoned-off area, attempting to walk through and simply stepping over the marked-out shell casings that lie in the street.

Florida police acting station commander Lieutenant Colonel Ivy Mabuso, confirms the arrest, saying that the arrested man used his licensed firearm to commit the shooting.

“Police officers on patrol were stopped by members of the public and told that a shooting had occurred,” she says. “The suspect had not left the scene and did not attempt to flee.”
Mabuso adds that the shooting resulted from a drug-related disagreement.
