Fleurs murder trial gets underway
The six accused in the Luke Fleurs murder case are set to appear in the Johannesburg High Court.
The six accused of the murder and hijacking of Kaizer Chiefs player Luke Fleurs made another appearance in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on February 12.
Fleurs (24), at the peak of his career, was shot and killed before his car was hijacked at a petrol station in Constantia Park on April 3 last year. It was later confirmed after investigations that Fleurs suffered a gunshot wound through the chest.

Ndumiso Mswane (26), Fernando Sive (25), Nhlakanipho Dlamini (21), Franky Xaba (25), Maredi Mphahlele (36), and Thembinkosi Hlomikhawu were arrested in Slovoville, Soweto, on April 10 after the Provincial Investigating Unit and police received information on the whereabouts of Fleurs’ vehicle.
The Director of Public Prosecutions draughted an indictment to the High Court to proceed with the trial, which was thoroughly explained to the six accused during their appearance.
They currently face charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, murder, unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
The trial is set to take place in the Johannesburg High Court on March 7.
