3 suspects involved in a business robbery nabbed
The arrests mark a significant success in crime prevention efforts in the area, showing the effectiveness of collaboration between private security and law enforcement in ensuring public safety.
A prompt and coordinated response by multiple security companies and the police, led to the successful arrest of three suspects involved in a business robbery at The Valley Centre.
According to the Honeydew CPF public relations officer Michael Steyn, the incident occurred on Thursday, February 27, at 22:45. The Honeydew Emergency Group received a call for backup regarding suspects still on the premises, and security teams and SAPS immediately mobilised, surrounding the property to prevent any escape.

“During the operation, one suspect was quickly apprehended, while two others remained at large. Law enforcement and security personnel entered the premises, successfully locating and arresting the remaining suspects. Two firearms were recovered, with one being fully functional and another identified as a fake gun used to intimidate victims,” Michael explains.

Tragically, one of the shop owners was shot during the robbery. Emergency medical services, including Help24 EMS and Netcare 911, responded promptly, and the victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Michael praised the rapid response and teamwork among the various security companies and police. “The quick and coordinated effort of all responders ensured the suspects were caught, preventing further harm and securing the area effectively,” he said.

Beagle Watch, GP Tactical, Fidelity ADT, EC Security, Dowry, BCI Security, Donza Security, Help24 EMS, Netcare 911, Honeydew police, and Honeydew CPF are all the emergency and security personnel that played an important role in the operation.
