JUST IN: Two police officers killed in Roodepoort

The incident happened while the officers transported a suspect from court.

Two police officers were shot and killed outside the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court today, August 8.

According to the Gauteng Provincial spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, who is on the scene, the two officers were shot and killed while transporting suspects from the court.

The Roodepoort Record journalist Johan Meyer confirmed that the roads around the court are blocked off and that the forensics team is busy collecting evidence. A large crowd has also already formed.

In the meantime, residents are urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes as traffic is already being affected.
