Suspects nabbed after high-speed chase
The vehicle, reportedly spotted in the vicinity of numerous crime scenes in and around Florida, was forced to a stop in Newlands.
A high-speed chase unfolded in the streets of Florida Glen and Newlands on Thursday, September 4, resulting in the arrest of two people.
According to Help24 Secure’s operational director Quintin Swart, officers have been on the lookout for a grey Tata Indica, which was operating with cloned number plates, and has, over the past month, been seen in the vicinity of several burglaries and robberies targeting school children throughout Florida.
“On the afternoon in question, we received intelligence that the vehicle was once again spotted, this time in Newlands,” he says.

“Our tactical units were dispatched to locate and intercept. After some searching, they tracked the car down in Florida Glen. When the driver of the car noticed security vehicles, he sped off, and a high-speed chase ensued from Florida Glen.
Their officers managed to force the vehicle to a stop and detain the two occupants.
“A search of the vehicle yielded the original registration plates. The vehicle was confirmed to be linked to a case at Ennerdale Police Station as well.”
Swart believes the apprehension of the suspects and recovery of the cloned plates will significantly reduce criminal activity in the Florida area, particularly the targeting of vulnerable schoolchildren.
“The co-ordinated response further demonstrates the value of intelligence-driven operations and reinforces community safety efforts across the West Rand.”
