According to Florida CPF chairperson Farhaad Sardiwalla, information was received at about 02:00 about possible criminal activity at a business premises in the Florida CBD.

“I immediately put out a call for backup and received assistance from Shaik Security, Help24 Secure, and Fidelity ADT.

“Upon our arrival at the business premises, the suspects scattered and fled the scene.

“We soon established that the business had been burgled.

“Upon closer inspection, we discovered stolen goods inside the property on a trolley jack, as well as at the entrance gate, ready to be moved.

“We immediately contacted the business owner and the Florida police.”

Sardiwalla adds that, while the suspects managed to get away with a few items, most of the stolen property was recovered.

“We managed to recover more of the stolen goods abandoned by the suspects in Lockies Lane,” he says.

He adds that, as part of the investigation, the notorious containers on 3rd Avenue were thoroughly searched, as it is a known hideaway spot.

“We searched all the containers as well as the individuals illegally occupying them, but no more suspects or stolen goods we found.”

Sardiwalla expressed his thanks to the security companies that reacted.

“It goes to show that we can achieve success if we work together against crime.”
