Huge meth bust in Florida CBD

The West Rand K9 Narcotics Unit pounced on a well-known drug hotspot in Florida.

Police in Florida made a significant dent in the local drug trade this morning, September 30, when they raided a drug hotspot in Florida CBD, unofficially known as The Carwash.

According to the West Rand K9 Narcotics task team’s media liaison, Warrant Officer Renier Henning, the team had been scoping out activities at the notorious drug hotspot for some time.

“We keep an eye on known hotspots on an ongoing basis to identify the best time to raid them,” he says.

A large quantity of uncut crystal meth was seized during the raid of a known drug hotspot.

“This morning, our members were conducting their normal duties when they noticed two suspicious persons enter the premises.

“A decision was made to perform the raid, and reinforcements were called in.

“Our members surrounded the premises and closed in.

“One suspect, a foreign man, tried to make a run for it and was swiftly chased down and apprehended.”

The West Rand K9 Narcotics task team recovered a large amount of drugs in Florida CBD on September 30.

Henning says that upon closer inspection, officers came across a large quantity of what is suspected to be crystal meth.

“The man was arrested and the drugs seized.”

Henning adds that because of the large quantity of drugs seized, the case was handed over to the Provincial Commissioner’s Unit specialising in narcotics.

“The value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at R600 000,” Henning concludes.
