Body found on Ontdekkers Road

The man appeared to have been badly beaten and circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

A man’s body was discovered early this morning, October 27 on Ontdekkers Road, outside Witpoortjie train station.

EC Security and Fidelity ADT reaction officers Sonnyboy Mathibe and Thapelo Ntshabele, said they arrived at the scene just before 06:00.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently unknown.

Traces of blood were found leading from the railway tracks to where the body was discovered. The officers said the man appeared to have been badly beaten, with visible bruises on his back and head.

When the Roodepoort Record arrived, police officers were interviewing an eyewitness, while the grieving partner and a friend of the deceased were also at the scene.
