The officer suspected that cable theft might be underway, seeing the man standing close to an open manhole. Acting swiftly, he called for back-up. Two additional response units responded, including a member of the Specialised Crime Unit of Beagle Watch. As the team approached, two more men emerged from the manhole, pulling cables from below.

According to Beagle Watch’s managing director, André Aiton, the officers successfully apprehended all three suspects before they could flee. Upon searching the area, the team recovered various cut cables, tools commonly used for cable theft, pairs of gloves, and a manhole cover lifter.

The suspects were then handed over to the Honeydew Police Station for further investigation and processing.
