Attempted business robbery perps nabbed

Their escape came to an end quickly when the officers' vigilant eyes identified them.

Three perpetrators were arrested last night, December 10, after an attempted business robbery at a fast food outlet in The Falls Centre.

According to the Honeydew CPF, the arrests were made shortly after the incident was reported, and a firearm was recovered from the vehicle used.

CPF public relations officer Michael Steyn said the attempted robbery was first reported at about 20:40 on the Sector 3 CPF group. Security companies and Honeydew police were dispatched immediately through the Honeydew Emergency Group, but the three had already fled the store by the time responders arrived.

Officers and security members then searched the surrounding area and located a vehicle that matched the description circulated on the CPF platforms. The vehicle was pulled over, and police found a hidden firearm during their search.

Steyn added that video footage from the scene clearly identified two of the perpetrators, and their clothing matched what appeared in the footage. These two, along with the driver of the vehicle, were detained at Honeydew Police Station. They are facing charges of attempted business robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of ammunition.

Steyn commended the co-ordinated response, saying the incident once again showed that teamwork pays off. He thanked Honeydew SAPS and the security companies involved, including Guardmax, GP Tactical, West Rand Reaction Unit, and Beagle Watch Armed Response.
