Two suspects arrested for cable theft in Weltevreden Park

A vigilant Honeydew CPF member, supported by security partners and SAPS, helped apprehend two suspects.

Two suspects were arrested on Wednesday, December 24, after a suspected cable theft incident in Weltevreden Park.

Honeydew Community Policing Forum PRO Michael Steyn said a CPF member noticed suspicious activity near a manhole while on patrol and called for back-up via the Honeydew Emergency Group.

Police, Beagle Watch Armed Response R3 and other private security partners responded and apprehended two suspects, while a third fled.

Additional support was later provided by Honeydew police, GP Tactical and 6th Sense to secure the scene.

A crime report tabled at the Sector 3 CPF meeting on December 10 indicates that Weltevreden Park remains a crime hotspot.
