Police issue reward for cop killer

The Hawks have pleaded with anyone who may know the whereabouts of cop killer Jabulani Moyo, to come forward.

The brutal killings of Warrant Officer Vuysile Sintwa and Sergeant Simon Masenya in broad daylight on Albertina Sisulu Road in August sent shockwaves through the community and local law enforcement structures.

The officers were transporting an inmate, Jabulani Moyo, back to the Boskburg Correctional Centre after his appearance on armed robbery charges in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court, when, in a brazen attack, both officers were shot and killed, and Moyo managed to make his escape in their vehicle.

The Hawks have issued a reward for information leading to the arrest of Jabulani Moyo.

In a statement released by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in Gauteng (Hawks) last week, more information about that fateful day emerged.

According to the statement, video footage obtained shows the state vehicle in which the officers and the suspect were travelling suddenly stopping along Albertina Sisulu Rd in Roodepoort CBD.

Soon thereafter, three suspects approached the vehicle, and an argument ensued before the two officers were shot and killed. Both members were then thrown out of the vehicle, after which the suspects fled the scene in the state vehicle, which was later found abandoned on Onsloo Street in Roodepoort.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in Gauteng is appealing to members of the public who may have information on the whereabouts of Moyo and his three accomplices to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Rabosiwana, on 072 844 4442 or anonymously call the Crime Stop number on 0860 10111.

It was further revealed that police have issued a reward of R150 000 to anyone who can share information leading to Moyo’s arrest.
