JMPD arrests four linked to over 20 cases
The plates are linked to multiple cases in Maraisburg and Florida.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Department (JMPD) arrested four suspects who were found with vehicles fitted with false registration plates and linked to various crimes on Wednesday, January 20.
According to JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla, at about 15:00, officers on patrol intercepted two vehicles that were found to be fitted with false registration plates.

Fihla says one of the vehicles, a white Nissan NP200, has been a primary target of investigation following a spree of thefts of motor vehicle parts and accessories across Florida and Maraisburg.
“Following a tactical patrol, officers apprehended four suspects who are now linked to 28 pending cases. The suspects were found in possession of vehicles used to facilitate various crimes, including the theft of headlights, bumpers, and other vehicle components,” said Fihla.
The suspects are being held by the Florida police, with the vehicles booked into the police’s vehicle pound in Lenasia for forensic investigation.
