Colour Walk held for mental health and suicide awareness
According to the Executive President and Co-founder of Hope-Tshepo (NPO), Tebogo Molefe the walk was for the souls lost due to any mental health disorder.
For many people the past three years have been challenging and for some it has gotten worse and they may be feeling like they are fighting a losing battle with depression and suicidal thoughts – but Hope-Tshepo (NPO) says you are not alone.


To close off Mental Health Awareness Month, on Saturday, October 29 Hope-Tshepo (NPO) in collaboration with Snob SaseKasi hosted a Colour Walk to raise awareness about Mental Health and Suicide.
The month of October has been declared Mental Health Awareness Month with the objective of not only educating the public about mental health but also to reduce the stigma and discrimination that people with mental illness are often subjected to.


According to the Executive President and Co-founder of Hope-Tshepo (NPO), Tebogo Molefe the walk was for the souls lost due to any mental health disorder.
“We remember you, we walked so that no one has to resort to taking their own life, we are here, ready to listen and help. If you feel you need someone to talk to, or you need information about any mental health related query please send us a WhatsApp text on 073 620 1447. We are here for you, the power of hope makes us infinite,” said Tebogo.

According to Tebogo, there are 23 known suicides in South Africa every day and for every person who commits a suicide, 10 more attempt it.
From 12:00 to 14:00 on the day, attendees who purchased washable colour paints and powders walked from Sol Plaatjie D Section Gate to Sol Plaatjie Community Hall.
