Johannes Qambelisha has been selling flowers at the intersection for 30 years and his presence has a relief for the romantic and those needing a soft sight along a lengthy commute. As Johannes gets older, getting to and from the intersection is getting more difficult, and between compassionate community members and the charity arm of a premier radio station, Johannes got a fresh set of wheels.

After generating support through their listeners, Jacaranda FM and their Good Morning Angels initiative donated R40 000 to Johannes to keep him mobile. A vehicle was sourced through Barry Harmse from Motus Toyota Bryanston, who serviced the vehicle, replaced the tyres, personalised Johannes’ license plates, and put in a new car radio. Additionally, Barry arranged a roadworthy test and has thrown in two annual services free of charge.

The funds will help with Johannes’ medical needs and family responsibilities and the vehicle will help Johannes sell more flowers, taking his business to the next level as he continues to be the sole breadwinner for his family.
