The Pink Bra Project
2022 Mrs South Africa Finalists and Mrs Grand South Africa, support The Warriors With A Purpose Pink Bra Project.
The Pink Bra Project began in June 2022. The aim of the project is breast cancer awareness, the most common type of cancer.
According to Renée Singh, or Ney, as many know her, founder and director of Warriors With A Purpose they, along with Jason’s Angels want to raise funds and collect bras for women suffering from breast cancer, she further hopes the project will grow and uplift many lives in this fight.

Ney, explains what inspired the project, “As a breast cancer survivor and having my organisation in creating awareness, support, and education. I wanted to do something that would benefit the warriors battling breast cancer and give them hope, support, and confidence in their journey.

“The project has taken off extremely well. Creating breast cancer awareness as well as empowering youth and adults in the breast cancer journey. Giving them hope in this battle,” stated Ney
Tamara Nel, Lee-Ann Naidoo, and Faieka Smith, 2022 Mrs Grand South Africa finalist, are all ambassadors for the project, with the Mrs South Africa Finalists, Keshni Mahomed and Tasnim Young-Norris, the Women Empowerment Award Winner as the hosts.

Lee-Ann, Faieka, and Keshni are all cervical cancer survivors and Tasnim is a breast cancer survivor.
“Cancer is not a death sentence. There is hope and support. I would also like the readers to understand that the Pink Bra Project is aimed at women that undergo one breast mastectomy or a double mastectomy. As well as not all women choose to do further reconstruction of their breasts or have breast implants done. However we also have knockers available, my current supplier Mary Lou at the Croshare Charity Club has ladies make a soft cushion knocker that suits the breast size and fits on the inside of the bra to support the breast. Knockers can only be worn inside the bra after three months of surgery. These women must feel fabulous, amazing, and beautiful as they are even through the challenges that come with breast cancer,” explained Ney.
Ney expressed her desire to expand the project to other provinces and abroad to create awareness and give hope to ‘individuals, communities, and families as well as the youth’.
“Remember to do a monthly self-examination test, detecting any lumps also 5-7 days after a menstrual cycle. If any lumps are detected, you need to consult with a doctor immediately to further investigate. Not all lumps are cancerous. But it is imperative we look after ourselves and ensure healthy living,” Ney advised.
Any person who wants to support this cause can contact Ney on 064 684 7915 or email her at neysingh23@gmail.com/ wwap.rsa@gmail.com. They are currently also collecting bras for the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital Oncology Unit.
