The Johannesburg Care Foundation offers hampers to those who donate

Those interested in a hamper, can donate to the Johannesburg Care Foundation.

The Johannesburg Care Foundation is handing out hampers for those who donate to their cause.

According to Llewellyn Ryan, founder and chairperson, the foundation is a non-profit organisation aimed at helping those in their community. Currently, they contribute to 300 soup kitchens, five old age homes, blanket drives and numerous children’s feeding schemes, among others. They also help those who live on the streets with food and blankets.

They have put together hampers for those who wish to donate and want a little something in return. Llewellyn explained the hamper is not necessarily the worth of the donation, however, it is a small token of their appreciation. They have hampers for women, a cookie hamper, as well as emergency load-shedding kits.

On May 24 they dropped off one such hamper at an old age home in Florida. Jean Groenewald from the Frail Care Centre at Ons Huis old age home received a hamper with women’s beauty products, as well as cookies and a blanket. Alain Lotz, the liaison officer for the Johannesburg Care Foundation handed over the hamper. Jean turned 74 on June 4 and this was the foundation’s way of giving back to her.
