Community effort shines a light on Honeydew Police Station
The Honeydew Police Station plays a vital role in ensuring safety and security, and initiatives like these help create a more efficient and welcoming environment for both officers and the public.
The Panorama@Work team together with a generous donor and a local locksmith upgraded the Honeydew Police Station’s much-needed lighting, improving conditions for both officers and visitors.
According to the Panorama@work team, after speaking with members of the Honeydew CPF, they identified an urgent need for maintenance at the station. According to them, the Customer Service Centre, where officers assist the public daily, had outdated and malfunctioning lights, creating a dim and unwelcoming environment. Wasting no time, the team stepped in on February 15, to brighten the police station by securing new light fixtures.
According to the Honeydew CPF public relations officer, Michael Steyn, the difference was immediate and the space was transformed into a brighter, more functional area, benefiting both police personnel and the community. While on-site, the team discovered another critical issue. One of the holding cells was in complete darkness due to blown globes, but the real challenge was the locked security cage since the key was missing.
Determined to solve the problem, the team reached out to AMA Locksmith, who responded immediately. Not only did they unlock the cage, but he also replaced the lock – at no extra cost.
Michael expressed his gratitude and said, “We are incredibly grateful to the Panorama Residents Association Weltevreden Park and AMA Locksmith for their support. The improvement to the lighting has made a noticeable difference. It’s inspiring to see local organisations and businesses stepping up to assist where they can. This is what community spirit is all about.”
