Foundation feeds the needy

Residents of Fleurhof Heights and the Thandanani Centre were treated to delicious meals over the Easter weekend.

Florida — The Serve to Grow Foundation is expanding their charitable efforts throughout Florida, with events aimed at uplifting local communities growing in both number and size.

According to founder Melissa Huber, the Easter weekend saw Serve to Grow Foundation volunteers once again teaming up with sponsors, Bossa Bedfordview, to make a huge difference to communities in need.

“On Saturday, we managed to serve 300 portions of vegetable biriyani at Fleurhof Heights,” she says.

“In addition, we handed out clothing, food parcels, pita bread, cheese, stationery, and washing powder.

“We returned on Sunday and gave 100 children a burger and chips each, as well as some Easter eggs.”

But that’s not all. The Serve to Grow team then headed off to the Thandanani Centre, a residence and rehabilitation centre that supports adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, situated in Rose Street, Florida.

Here, the team served burgers and chips to 64 adult patients.

“It is a massive privilege for us to be able to help people in need,” says Melissa, who adds that without the support of their generous sponsors, such projects would not be possible.
