School community unites for clean-up

Ridgevale Primary School parents, SGB members, staff and learners joined hands for a cleaning session.

Although most people had Workers’ Day (May 1) off to recharge their batteries, many learners, parents, staff and school governing body members (SGB) of Ridgevale Primary School joined forces on the day to give the school a thorough cleaning.

According to Nomsa Mqhitsane, a SGB parent member and the campaign co-ordinator, the initiative aimed to do more than just clean the school.

“We want our learners to take pride in their school,” she said.

“By involving the community in the cleaning process, we are also instilling a sense of ownership and responsibility in the learners. We are also teaching them the power of the school community.”

The collaborative effort paid off, leaving the school sparkling clean and ready. The clean-up showcased the power of teamwork and the school’s commitment to providing a nurturing environment for its learners. As the learners return to school, they’ll surely feel proud to be part of such a caring and dedicated community.
