Women gain valuable mechanical skills at Women’s Day event

This day was more than pink decorations and flowers for the guests present at the event.

Kia Weltevreden Park hosted a Women’s Day event to honour and celebrate women.

At the event, which took place on August 23, the women were taught how to change their tyres, check their oil and water, and follow the parts and services process.

According to Suhaifa Shaik of the dealership, they like to show appreciation for women, customers, employees, and community members, and this is what inspired the idea behind the event.

“We constantly engage with our customers, offering support in terms of our services, helping them make informed decisions, whether it be buying a car, servicing their vehicle or trading in their vehicle. We promote inclusivity and create a welcoming environment,” Suhaifa said, explaining how they support women throughout the year.

Besides the mechanical workshop, the event carried a special message for the attendees to take home with them.

“Honour women, shift cultural norms, build brand trust, and create an inclusive space – both in business and community. Our women should be seen, valued, empowered, respected, confident, and celebrated. You’re capable of making informed decisions,” she expressed.

They intend for this event to become an annual celebration – one that grows each year in reach and impact.

“We want to bring women from across our community and beyond together to honour and celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women. This event is more than a moment; it’s a movement – toward greater connection, empowerment, and recognition of the powerful role women play in every space, including ours.”

For Suhaifa, hosting events like these shows that they care for people, and it is an opportunity to empower, educate, and energise women in the community. Whether it’s through knowledge-sharing, networking, or recognition, it’s a chance to give back meaningfully.
