Multiple takeaway stores on fire at Princess Crossing
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
A fire broke out at a takeaway store at Princess Crossing at about 09:30 on September 20, spreading to two neighbouring stores.
According to Mark Davidson, franchise owner of the affected outlets, an alleged oil fire led to an evacuation before the flames spread through the ceiling to adjoining stores.

One store suffered significant fire and water damage, while the other two sustained smoke damage. Firefighters responded quickly and managed to contain the blaze before it caused further destruction.
Davidson confirmed that no fatalities or injuries were reported.

“The smoke only damaged the ceiling on our side,” Davidson said.

“However, it’s not safe for our staff to enter until a structural engineer assesses the damage to the roof. Fortunately, our staff had undergone fire training and followed safety protocols perfectly, which ensured everyone’s safety.”

Kagiso Phasha, media liaison officer for the City of Johannesburg Emergency Services, said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The stores have been cordoned off, and more details will be released as information becomes available.
