Florida author defying conventions
Born and raised locally, author Douglas Kruger is making waves as an internationally acclaimed author.
Douglas Kruger, son of local historian and ballroom dancing champion, Rod Kruger, is pushing the boundaries in the literary world, having recently published not one, but two international titles in different genres.
Kruger’s latest offerings consist of his new personal growth title, Wicked Smart: Brilliant Ways to do Just About Everything Better, and a suspense novel, House of the Judas Goat, through Penguin Random House and Claret Press of London, respectively.
These releases see Kruger, having previously penned 14 commercially published books, including SA bestsellers such as Poverty Proof and Own Your Industry, up his tally to 16 books in one fell swoop.
“Wicked Smart is a collection of all the best ‘smart-cuts’ from behavioural economics,” says Douglas.
“It answers questions like: How many people should you have on an ideal team, what is the smartest way to begin planning a big project, and how can you be 80% more effective as a leader using a single shift in approach?”
House of the Judas Goat, on the other hand, poses the shocking question: Can a child be a psychopathic traitor?
Chock full of intrigue, it features an international child-smuggling syndicate posing as a harmless student exchange programme.
Douglas will shortly be appearing at a series of author events in London. The paperback version of Wicked Smart is already in South African bookstores, and South African thriller fans can get House of the Judas Goat as an e-book or audiobook, or by ordering the paperback from Amazon.
His plans for the future? Douglas shows no signs of slowing down. He recently completed the audio recording of House of the Judas Goat for the Audible audio book platform, and is currently putting the finishing touches to his next novel, The Caravan in the Swamp, a ghost story with several global locations.
