Crisis Alliance to present at FBW meeting

The Florida Block Watch invites residents to interact with the Johannesburg Crisis Alliance during its upcoming meeting.

Florida Block Watch’s (FBW) upcoming monthly meeting is set to once again feature a prominent speaker, this time in the form of Yunus Chamda, the co-ordinator at the Johannesburg Crisis Alliance (JCA).

The JCA was established as a partnership between civic organisations, the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa), Defend our Democracy, the Joburg Inner-City Partnership, and Action-for-Accountability, to address the ongoing decline and ensure a safe and prosperous Johannesburg for all.

According to FBW chairperson John Kirsten, the JCA’s work in uniting civic organisations and strengthening civic responsibility is essential to the aim of a better Johannesburg.

“Yunus comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience and will no doubt provide great insight into the workings of JCA and how it is making a difference on the ground.

“We are all directly and often severely impacted by the many problems faced at the municipal level. From water, electricity and infrastructure problems to crime and corruption.

“This is an opportunity for us all to learn how we can get involved in making a tangible difference in combating the decline which has become so apparent,” Kirsten says.

The meeting is set to be held on Tuesday, October 21, at Hoërskool Florida’s Hotel School on Louis Botha Avenue, at 18:30.

“We urge the community to join us in making our city a better place to live.”
