World Garden Day celebrated

Participants spent a lovely morning enjoying music, good company, and art in the garden.

Guests, staff, and management of Flowers, Seeds, and Busy Bees in Lockies Street, celebrated World Garden Day on Sunday, October 12, with a lovely get-together complete with Mimosas, live music, and arts and crafts.

According to owner Thelma Botha, the morning started with uncertainty over the success of the event, as rainclouds, fuelled by a strong breeze, threatened to rain the event out.

“Luckily, we decided to persevere, and lo and behold, the sun peeked out from behind the clouds and soon chased them away.

“It turned into a lovely day in the garden, visiting with old and new friends.”

Visitors were each treated to a glass (or two) of delicious fruit juice or Mimosa, a beautiful and creative living crown of flowers, and the garden ornaments of their choice to paint.

By mid-morning, the garden was packed to capacity with guests concentrating hard to get their works of art just right.

“We’re so grateful to everyone for supporting us,” says Thelma. “It was a day to be remembered, and we look forward to doing it again next year.”
