Princess High spreads the love to Dorah’s Ark

The learners delivered bags full of two-minute noodles to the children's home.

Learners from Princess High School associated with Gem Bem (Girls and Boys Education Movement) banded together during September. They held a two-minute noodle collection in aid of Roodepoort-based charity Dorah’s Ark.

Dorah’s Ark is a children’s home in Roodepoort CBD, which provides housing for children, also feeds many local children daily.

According to Gem Bem co-ordinator and teacher at Princess High, N-Chane Nkosi, the initiative came about when learners at the school were looking for a project where they could make a real difference in the community.

“We try to expose the learners to the realities in the world around them, but we also want to inspire them to get actively involved in worthy projects in their communities,” she says.

“The learners had a wonderful time at Dorah’s Ark, and they were able to see for themselves how great the need is.

“We hope that this experience will inspire even more of our learners to get involved and make a difference.”
