Wings of Inspiration receives essential donations
The donations were led by Horizon Shopping Centre as part of their #LivingTheUpside campaign.
The Wings of Inspiration women and children’s shelter recently received much-needed donations from a collection drive led by Horizon Shopping Centre as part of their Heritage Month celebrations.
The donations, which included books, toys, clothing, and home essentials, were dropped off at the centre on October 22.
According to the shopping centre’s marketing manager, Unathi Tyali, the donations resulted from Horizon’s #LivingTheUpside campaign, which encouraged the community to donate previously loved items to those in need. The initiative also served as a way for the centre to give back to the community.
“This campaign is very close to our hearts, and we’re blessed to be part of this initiative working with Wings of Inspiration,” she said.
Centre manager Heidi Harms warmly welcomed the donations, saying they have over 40 people, comprising 22 women and 18 children, living in the centre, and these donations will go a long way.
“These women come from disadvantaged backgrounds and may lack clothing, toiletries, and other daily necessities. This is a big blessing for them to be able to dress and have something decent,” said Heidi, feeling very grateful.
Wings of Inspiration is a non-profit organisation with centres spanning South Africa, inspired by a family who had lived through hard times and identified the need to help others. They have various centres, including a day care centre, recovery and detox, dog rescues, elderly and frail care, women and children shelter, and soup kitchens.
