Children’s home blessed with essential donations
These donations were a result of a collection drive at Kwena Square.
Nothing beats seeing community members and corporate organisations coming together to make a tangible difference to those who need it most.
As part of the Redefine #LivingTheUpside campaign, Kwena Square and other shopping centres partnered to host a collection drive that encouraged community members to donate new or previously loved items to those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
One of the beneficiaries of this campaign was Baby Moses Children’s Home, which has been a beacon of hope since 2003 for abused, abandoned, and neglected babies, toddlers, and teens. The sanctuary received donations including clothing, toys, eyeglasses, books, and home essentials.
Lanie de Klerk, the co-founder of Baby Moses, welcomed the donations handed over on October 23 by Kwena Square marketing manager Unathi Tyali and her team.
“Without the community and corporate sponsors, we would never be able to care for the children. Such donations bring us hope and ensure they have a bright future.
“We currently have 201 children in six houses across Roodepoort and Krugersdorp. These donations will go a long way,” said Lanie, feeling grateful. The organisation not only focuses on children but also assists foster parents, runs feeding schemes, and supports other families facing hardships.
Unathi said this initiative is part of their way of giving back to the community. She also expressed her gratitude to all sponsors who made this possible.
