Organisation seeks donations of sanitary towels to support young girls
Connectedor has, over the years, been combating period poverty and educating about hygiene.
In a bid to eradicate period poverty and ensure that no girl misses school, Connectedor, a community organisation, is appealing to the community for sanitary towel donations.
The foundation was started four years ago by a dedicated teacher, Dora Rapai, to empower young women and girls by promoting menstrual hygiene and normalising menstruation as a normal part of life.
“Being a high school teacher, it worries me when young girls miss school because of a lack of sanitary towels. If you miss twenty days of school, you are retained in that specific year,” said Dora.

Since its inception, the foundation has hosted numerous programs – between four to six months annually – to provide sanitary products and educate girls about self-care and hygiene.
As the festive season approaches, Connectedor is seeking donations of sanitary pads, especially for the upcoming Christmas period, to bring some cheer to the girls they serve. The organisation highlights that even the most affordable pads, costing less in shops, can make a significant difference.
Community members and local businesses are encouraged to contribute. Donations of sanitary towels and small treats to brighten the girls’ spirits are welcome.
