Princess community mourns death of young learner
Princess Primary hosted a memorial service for Grade Five learner, Lwandle Dintwe.
Bereaved family members, staff and learners of Princess Primary School gathered on Tuesday, November 11, to pay their last respects to a Grade Five learner, Lwandle Dintwe, who passed away suddenly due to kidney failure.
United by grief, mourners braved downpours to gather at the school to celebrate the life of Lwandle, who was well known for being friendly, warm-spirited and kind and had a passion for learning.
The memorial service was well-attended by teachers, school governing body members, parents, principals from neighbouring schools, district and Department of Social Development officials, who all supported and gave words of encouragement to the school.

Lwandle’s class teacher, Mrs Letshekge, described her as someone who was very clean, had neat handwriting and loved to dance/ choreograph.
“We gather with heavy hearts to celebrate a little star whose light shone brightly even for such a short period of time. She was the one who taught her classmates how to dance for this year’s annual concert.
“In our classroom, she was all about laughter, smiles and curiosity. She will be dearly missed,” she said.
Principal John Sithi thanked everyone who supported and showed compassion during this difficult time.

“On behalf of The Palace of Dreams, I extend heartfelt thanks to the Johannesburg West District Office, our School Governing Body, and fellow schools within the district for their continuous support, guidance, and solidarity.
“As a school community, we remain united in faith, love, and hope. Though our hearts are wounded, our spirit remains strong. We will continue to honour Lwandle’s memory by nurturing dreams, sharing kindness, and holding one another in the strength of community. May the Lord’s peace comfort the Dintwe family and all who mourn,” he said.
Lwandle will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 15, in Bodibe Village, Mafikeng.
