Help Claw this Christmas
Community Led Animal Welfare appeals to the public for dog food donations.
In the spirit of Christmas and giving back, the Community Led Animal Welfare (Claw) is appealing to the public for donations of dog pellets, as they have been receiving more surrendered animals.
For many years, Claw has been providing essential services within the local community.
From spaying, deworming and vaccines, to emergency medical care for animals, especially in areas not serviced, or under-serviced by other animal rescue organisations, Claw does it all.
According to the founder of the organisation, Cora Bailey, during the festive season, they receive more animals looking for homes, and they are struggling to keep their heads above water.
“Since we are located near various townships, we are the only place these people turn to, to drop off their unwanted animals or call for us to collect. We are the first stop they make when they can no longer care for their animals. This is usually because of loss of jobs and homes,” she said.
She added that they used to receive a lot of donations through drop-offs, but they are donors are reluctant due to safety issues.
However, they do have alternative drop-off points, one at Florida Vet located on Ontdekkers Road and another in Horison.
