Residents help remove fallen tree

Nature tried to get in the way, but the residents stepped up.

Strubens Valley experienced heavy rainfall on November 16, resulting in a big tree falling over both lanes of a street, obstructing traffic.

Residents and members of the Beagle Watch Armed Response Environmental Team worked together to clear the road in less than an hour.

The fallen tree posed a risk to motorists navigating the damp conditions. Claire Fauchet from Little Falls and Strubens Valley Residential Community Forum explained that Beagle Watch team members cut the tree into manageable chunks with a chainsaw after arriving on time.

While three children cleared the street of tiny branches and twigs, two locals assisted in moving the bigger logs. The road was completely cleared 50 minutes after the tree fell, enabling safe traffic to resume.

“The incident shows the importance of communities working together and supporting each other during adverse weather conditions to maintain everyone’s safety during environmental challenges throughout the year,” Fauchet said.
