Florida Hills Residents Forum showcases progress and future plans
During the meeting, it was revealed that Florida Hills has the lowest crime rate.
Florida Hills Residents Forum (FHRF) held their annual general meeting on Tuesday, November 18, which was well attended by residents, security companies and the police.
The meeting was spearheaded by FHRF chairperson Stanton Nell, who briefed the residents on everything from service delivery and crime stats to massive improvements made by the forum over the years.
Among the things that stood out was that Florida Hills has the lowest crime rate in the whole of the Johannesburg policing district. He thanked all the security companies in the area, such as Help24, ADT, Beagle Watch and EC Security, for working with the residents in ensuring that Florida Hills remains the safest suburb.
Sector manager Sergeant (soon to be Warrant Officer) Bongani Mofokeng from Florida Police has briefed the residents, emphasising that residents, security companies and the police need to continue working together.
“If there are any complaints, sector cars must be involved so that we can come and open cases and have those stats in our data,” he said, also encouraging residents to attend domestic and gardeners’ awareness sessions held in collaboration with ADT.
Vincent Kok briefed the residents on a recent meeting held that seeks to strengthen and forge the forum’s relationships with entities responsible for service delivery.
Nell also mentioned that they intend to install more cameras in the area, as they’ve helped in the fight against crime by monitoring the number of vehicles driving in and out of the area.
A community app is also on the way, which will have information on announcements, upcoming events, news, community services, traffic and notify me sessions.
The forum’s budget and other important things were also shared with the residents.
